Here is a little gift, a coloring sheet depicting kelp, starfish, sand dollars and sea anemones. I will post a tutorial video to guide you through coloring the scene with colored pencils.
Having finished my first book, I now look to begin my next project. I decided to work on the design for the cover. This may seem premature, but it makes the new book seem very tangible for me. This image will also boost my morale when the inevitable artist/writer block slows my progress. This drawing also serves a practical purpose in my creative process. I helps me work out the general appearance of the main protagonists (otters!), level of realism for all the drawings, and general color scheme–a unifying feature throughout the book.
At the edge is a great place to be! It is where change is made and is where we see interesting interactions between species. It is where I want to live my life… always on the edge of something new, with my eye on something just beyond the horizon.
Having recently completed the first book in my “At the Edge” series of picture books, I started this blog to allow others to follow my creative process and research as I explore the many wonders of nature. Welcome!
